Episode #55: 5 Positive Thoughts to Think During Trying Times

In episode 55 of the GUIDE Culture podcast, Macy shares a piece of her heart about what’s going on in the world. There seems to be a common theme among a lot of us and that is that we feel frozen. There is a way that you can stop feeling frozen during this time. She shares 5 positive thoughts that you can choose to think from here on out.

Thought #1: Action or inaction will create a result.

We think that just because we stay still, our results will also stay still. That’s just not true.

Do for YOU what you would do for a loved one. If you were 100% responsible for someone else, chances are you would treat them and care for them better than you treat yourself. You would take ACTION on the things that are going to move their life forward. So, why wouldn’t you do the same for yourself?

Thought #2: This is the new normal.

Many of us have been putting a band-aid on what’s going on and saying “oh, I’ll do that when things are back to normal.” Thinking that way is NOT getting you anywhere. The truth is that THIS is our new normal.

We do not know when things are going to return to how they used to be – the future is unpredictable. But guess what? It always has been. We don’t know what tomorrow holds and we never have. Don’t wait for normal.

Thought #3: Leading through a crisis is an honor.

Being able to lead people right now – whether it’s in your home or in your workplace – should be viewed as a joy and an honor. Whether you lead a team of 2 or 200.

We get it – you want to retreat during this time and possibly hide. But YOU set the tone for your team, your home, your environment. It’s your job to remain calm and focused on the mission. The people around you want you to be REAL more than they want you to be right.

Believe that it is an honor and not a burden.

Thought #4: You still have the resources that you need to keep going.

You have the time, the wifi, the support, the books, the podcasts, the journals, food, etc. You have the things you need right in front of you to keep moving. Sure, they may be re-arranged and thrown off just a little bit, but that doesn’t mean that you have to completely stop.

Thought #5: Nothing has gone wrong.

It’s easy to feel that everything has gone wrong. Many people’s lives really have been thrown for a full loop because of this pandemic. No matter how much or how little you’ve been affected, there IS a positive in all of it.

Your kids school is now out for the rest of the year and you have to homeschool? GOOD. You get to spend more time with them and help them learn. Nothing has gone wrong.

You had to cancel your event? GOOD. You get to create it virtually and help hundreds of more people. Nothing has gone wrong.

You can’t travel for work? GOOD. You get to stay home with your family and use your creativity to serve your clients in new ways. Nothing has gone wrong.

What has been thrown off in your life? How can you make it good?

These are the thoughts we are choosing from here on out. You can control how you think during this trying time. We are here to help!
