Episode #52: 3 Step Content Creation Process

We believe that sales is a process, not an event. Content creation is a HUGE part of that process. It’s important that you’re creating content that makes you stand out in your industry.

Your content tilt is the thing that will separate you in your market!

In episode #52 of the GUIDE Culture podcast, Macy takes you through the process of how to find your content tilt. No matter what you do, there is a way that you can create content to stand out from those that do the exact same thing as you.

Here’s a quick recap:

Your tilt is what gives you the ability to be the lead informational provider or the EXPERT in your specific area.

Finding your content tilt: (warning – this is ever-changing)

If you’re feeling stagnant, the issue might be that you’re living in a pond – a pond of knowledge and experiences.

You need to be in a stream! A stream of new and fresh knowledge, experiences, people and perspectives.

To make yourself stand out, you need to be reading new things, taking new courses and learning new skills AT ALL TIMES.

The most poisonous thought you can think is: “I don’t know how to do that.” or “I’m not sure.” That’s when you GO LEARN! You absolutely can know how to do something.

Learn about the things that can align with your business.

For example, our market is sales. We know sales. The content that we create isn’t just sales focused.

We go out and learn about personal development, entrepreneurship, mindset, productivity, etc. and create content around those things as well. Our content tilt is the knowledge that we have in these areas.

3 Step Process:

Step 1 – Get a piece of paper and draw a line down the middle.

On one side, write the commonalities that people have in your business. For example, if you’re in the wellness business, commonalities may include: healthy eating, exercise, importance of sleep, etc. These are the things that everyone in the wellness industry are talking about.

If you constantly talk about the commonalities of every person in your industry, of course you won’t stand out.

On the other side, write down the things that make you special. What do you know a lot about? What are your experiences? Don’t even think about how it will align with your business yet. Just write them down.

Step 2 – Go deeper in your knowledge of the things that are uncommon in your industry.

For example, one of the things that Macy knows a lot about is health. Because of her knowledge in that, she can confidently talk about how health and sales align. It’s her tilt.

It’s using what you uniquely know to relate with your people, while still drawing it back to your main point, which is your industry or market.

Step 3 – Create content around your unique column.

Pick a platform and dive in! Creating free content is truly an investment in your business. It’s how you attract people that will likely turn into clients or customers. If you’re struggling with how to create content, take the topic you want to talk about and develop a tangible, quick win for your audience.

Becoming the informational expert in your market will help you have command over your industry as a whole, help you add more value to your audience and give you the ability to talk about more than just your product or service!
