When Macy + Kat wrote Persuade for Good, it was written as an overflow of their heart. The impact it’s had on hundreds of lives is a beautiful byproduct of that overflow. This book has led to so many great conversations with not only GUIDE Culture students, but those who have never even heard of GUIDE Culture.
One recurring theme in these stories is that the easy button doesn’t work. To grow your business, people hear “get your offer right” or “be relatable and sales will come” or maybe “if you have more followers, more people will buy from you”. And maybe you’ve done all of those things. And the sales came…for a moment in time.
Now you’re sitting there with zero sales and realizing the easy button is just that – the easy way out.
If you’re tired of hitting the easy button, here are two powerful ways to persuade others for good:
- Understand that it is your duty to persuade others for good
You have a gift. You have the solution that someone needs to make their life easier. Someone is walking around suffering, and you have the cure to their cancer. As humans, we are way more fulfilled when our problems are actually being solved. So many people are walking around thinking that they have the solution to their own problems, but those solutions aren’t working. Sometimes YOU have the solutions to their problem, but you’re willing to let them continue down their path because you don’t want to convince them You don’t want to persuade them for good and serve and help those people. When you break down the word “persuade”, per- means thoroughly great care and -suade means sweetness. So essentially when you persuade you are sweetly showing great care.
- Realize that persuasion is a process, not an event
When you think of sales, so many people think of a gross car salesman or the lady in the mall kiosk who is trying to sell you a curling iron. Neither of those feel good, and neither of those take long. That is one sale event, not a persuasion process. Sometimes the process can take 6 days, sometimes it takes 6 months. But just because it takes time does not mean that you sit there and wait. There is always an action that you can be taking to persuade for good and keep your client’s brain in the right direction.

At Guide Culture, we’re on a mission to not just empower people to make more sales, but equip them to do it better and faster than ever before. Our version of winning looks like watching you lead your prospects to the right solution for them, lead your team to a common goal, or lead your family to grow into the humans you know they can be. We believe sales is bigger than that slimy feeling you say you get when you pitch a new prospect. It’s about loving and serving your people well. And learning how to do it is not something you can afford to push to the side anymore.
