EPI 290: Do More Followers Equal More Sales?

If your in any type of business, the ultimate goal is grow sales. That’s the foundation of business. When you have an online presence, you want to grow your audience because surely more eyes means more sales, right?

In many ways, sales is absolutely a numbers game. More than that, it’s a communication game. No matter how many followers you have, if you can’t convert them into sales, then they’re just that – a number.

A trap that many businesses can fall into when marketing online is that they do whatever it takes to get a follower. In 2019 it was buying followers. In 2021, it was trending dances on Reels or TikTok And while these things can cause an influx of people, it’s worth asking – are they the RIGHT people? Or are they the middle aged man from Croatia who thinks you’re cute?

So you’re thinking “Ok, I hear you. But what if it’s too late? How do I create the right audience? Lets unpack it!

  1. Persuade them for good | Help your followers to believe what they need to believe in order to buy from you. If you sell a make up product, sell the confidence for a new mom in feeling beautiful. If you sell a nutrition product, sell the energy your audience wants to serve their family. 
  2. Sell the right way | Show others what’s in it for them. You soften their hearts and and open their eyes to what your product does for them, which turns them into buyers. 
  3. Stay the course | staying consistent with your sales message helps foster that trust and recognition with your audience. Sales training may quite possibly be one of the most unsexy things to sell. But with a consistent and proper sles message, our audience’s minds were changed. They began to truly believe that sales skills are life skills. Remember, sales is a process – not a transaction.
