Who Your Competition Really Is & 3 Ways to Handle It
It’s time to break the news that your competition isn’t who you think it is. Your competition is no longer that other person in the same industry as you or that person that sells the same product as you.
Your biggest competition is YOU. It’s your own ability to provide value, clarity and alignment for your customer.
Kathryn speaks on this more in depth in a recent podcast episode. If you missed it, listen here:
#1: Provide value.
The word value means worth & usefulness.
Ask yourself the following questions:
- How useful are you to someone right now?
- What needs are you meeting for people right now?
- What do your people desire at this moment?
The only way to know the answer to these questions is to spend more time with them and ask them more questions!
#2: Communicate with clarity.
When you can speak with brevity & clarity about your value, people will be more likely to work with you QUICKLY.
It’s your responsibility to speak with clarity.
It’s not your customers fault if they don’t understand the value of what you offer.
A few ways to speak with clarity is to:
- Get specific with HOW you help & WHO you help
- Continually repeat your message
- Tell stories about WHAT you do, WHO you help & HOW you do it
- Be more consistent in your approach
#3: Provide & demonstrate alignment
When things are aligned it means that things will happen more naturally.
Is your current offer aligned with what people need right now? Have you made the pivot to provide people with a solution for the new lifestyle they are living?
Are you demonstrating alignment in your personal life?
Are you doing the things that lead to growth? This is the small stuff like – waking up early, getting dressed for the day, exercising, reading, journaling, etc. Even though you’re experiencing this new work from home life, are you still doing the things that are needed to align your life?
When you do these three things effectively, people will see you as the solution to a problem they are currently facing.
